The Information Management Specialist will be responsible for supporting the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) project “Disaster preparedness support to key emergency actors in Egypt, Tunisia and Libya” by contributing to the development of tools and data flows for the creation of a regional predictive dashboard on conflict- and climate-induced displacement, with the support of DRC staff in Headquarters (HQ) and Regional Office (RO). The Information Management Specialist will further contribute to develop and manage information management systems for DRC operations in Algeria, Libya and Tunisia, to ensure high-quality data collection, storage, analysis, and reporting. The role involves working closely with the MEAL team, Coordination and Area level, technical and implementation team, Regional Office and HQ to ensure that information management systems are efficient, effective, and aligned with DRC’s operational goals. The Information Management Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring that data is accessible, accurate, and used to inform decision-making and strategy development.
Your main duties and responsibilities will be:
Creation of a regional predictive dashboard on conflict- and climate-induced displacement (50%):
- Support DRC HQ and RO in the development of a regional predictive dashboard on conflict- and climate-induced displacement by contributing knowledge on relevant tools, flows, and data available at regional level
- Oversee the continuous update of the dashboard by compiling, reviewing and feeding up-to-date, relevant data, as defined and needed by the platform
- Liaise with relevant actors in North Africa to support signature of data sharing agreements for the compilation of up-to-date, relevant data, as defined and needed by the platform
Information System Development and Management (20%):
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of information management systems, ensuring they meet DRC’s data collection and analysis needs across all projects and sectors, in collaboration with existing Information Management staff in DRC Algeria, Libya and Tunisia
- Maintain and regularly update DRC’s information systems, including databases and dashboards, to ensure data accuracy, accessibility, and security.
- Ensure that information management processes are standardized across all projects and sectors, in line with DRC’s Global and Country-level Strategies.
- Develop tools, templates, and guidelines for data collection, entry, and management, ensuring the accuracy and quality of data and are compliant with DRC’s data protection and GDPR policies, in coordination with relevant program and sector teams.
- Facilitate the collection, storage, and management of program and sectoral data, including needs assessments, surveys, evaluations, and monitoring activities to ensure a proper and accurate knowledge management system in place.
- Develop data visualisations, dashboards, and reporting tools that allow for effective communication of key findings and program performance.
- Collaborate with MEAL and program teams to analyse and interpret data, providing insights that enhance program quality and effectiveness.
- Provide ongoing technical support to program technical and implementation teams and the MEAL team on information management processes and systems.
Protection Information Management (10%):
- Ensure that the information management systems established are in line with the PIM approach and the professional standards for protection work
- Lead the analysis and visualisation of protection-related data on a monthly basis to support the identification of trends, including protection monitoring as well as activity data
- Identify and implement information management systems appropriate for cross-border programming
- Conduct feedback sessions with protection teams and identify challenges, gaps and in collaboration with the Protection Manager, develop solutions.
- Oversee cthe onfidentiality of information and ensure there is provision of data security, including strict data handling and protocols, backup and recovery control
Capacity Building and Support (5%)
- Train and build the capacity of staff on information management tools, systems, and processes, ensuring they can effectively collect and manage program data.
- Provide ongoing technical support to Area Office staff and partners to enhance their data collection, management, and reporting skills.
- Support the MEAL team in developing and delivering training to internal and external stakeholders on data analysis and reporting to improve program quality and accountability.
Other (5%)
- Perform other duties as directed by the line manager (5%)
About you
- To be successful in this role, we expect you to have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in information management, database design or database administration, and/or information management with development projects implemented by national/international NGOs/UN.
Moreover, we also expect the following:
Required
- Mastery of up-to-date knowledge of quantitative data extraction, processing and analysis and relevant software packages, including for visualisation.
- Strong knowledge in the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for data validation, analysis and visualisation.
- Experience with advanced statistical analysis software (SPSS, R, Stata, etc.) is an advantage
- High level of proficiency in developing automated PowerBI dashboards
- High level of proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Excel
- Knowledge of M&E processes and data collection platforms such as Activity Info, Kobo. Theoretical knowledge and practical experience with setting up and managing relational databases, including coding and designing queries. Experience with ActivityInfo in particular is an advantage.
- Demonstrated experience in training and capacity-building on information management systems and data collection processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in diverse teams.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English
Desirable
- Knowledge of French will be an asset
